Love triangle, revenge eyed in murder of Apl.De.Ap's brother

MANILA, Philippines – Police investigators are looking for two possible motives in Tuesday’s killing of the half-brother of Black Eyed Peas’ member Apl.de.ap (Allan Pineda in real life) in Angeles City, a television report said Wednesday.

In his report in GMA News’ “24 Oras,” Nelson Canlas quoted authorities as saying that love triangle or vendetta (revenge) could be the motive behind the murder of 24-year-old Joven Diala.

The report said Diala figured in a street fight two years ago.

A police official however said that they are still continuing with their investigation to determine the real motive behind the killing.

“We’re still determining the motive. Our investigation is still ongoing,” said Chief Inspector Wilfredo Paulo, Station 6 commander of the Angeles police.

Diala was shot on the left side of his head while he was inside his parked car around 1 a.m. Tuesday. His girlfriend, Elaine Torres, who was seated with him during the attack, failed to recognize the assailants.

Torres said it was hard to recognize the suspects since the car was heavily tinted and they were parked in a dark area.

“Gusto ko madakip yung pumatay sa boyfriend ko kasi ang bait-bait ng boyfriend ko. Bakit nila ginawa sa kanya ‘to [I want those who killed my boyfriend arrested. Why did they have to kill him]?” she added.

The report said that the victim’s family has declined to issue a statement about the incident.

Pineda, meanwhile, is expected to arrive from the US to attend the wake of his half-brother. - GMANews.TV
