Gringo Honasan vs. Jim Paredes on Twitter

The following exchange between Sen. Gringo Honasan and musician-activist Jim Paredes took place on Twitter, during a virtual round-table discussion spearheaded by Newsbreak.ph on the 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution's 25th anniversary today. Honasan and Paredes were on the same side during the Revolution in 1986. Honasan was a central figure in the Revolution, a leader of the Reform the Armed Forces Movement (RAM) that helped pave the way for Corazon Aquino to ascend to the presidency. However, following the Revolution, he led several coup attempts that almost brought down the Aquino government. He became a fugitive and was eventually arrested and jailed. He has since made a dramatic comeback and is now a senator. Paredes helped set to music the mounting public unrest in the years leading up to the Revolution, performing in concerts that turned into protest actions against the Marcos regime. Right after the events at EDSA, he composed the now-famous theme song for the event, Handong ng Pilipino sa Mundo. He was, however, criticized for his decision to migrate to Australia in 2006.
